Policy Unit

The Policy Unit supports policy analysis, dialogue and strategic research to the UNDP in Afghanistan and the Government of Afghanistan.

As UNDP continues its role during Afghanistan’s transformation decade, the Policy Unit seeks to strengthen the coherence of UNDP’s intellectual and policy leadershipin areas of its competence. As a reputed multilateral organization UNDP enjoys an ability to convene the government, the donor community, and other stakeholders to discuss and reach conclusions on major policy and substantive issues, a key role the Policy Unit supports.

To position UNDP as a thought leader in the development, advocacy and use of rigorous human development policy research and analysis by policymakers and development actors in Afghanistan’s transformation decade

National Risk and Vulnerability Assessment 2011 - 2012

The National Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (NRVA) is a nationally representative multi-purpose survey, covering a variety of development sectors and cross-cutting themes, like poverty and the position of women. It provides information required for monitoring development progress and formulate development policies and programmes. The survey was conducted by the Central Statistics Organization (CSO) of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and provides results that are representative at national and provincial level.
