    Kabul, September 28, 2015 — Afghanistan’s Social Good Summit opens today in Kabul to raise awareness of the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event, which is being organized by UNDP Afghanistan, the Afghanistan Centre at Kabul University (ACKU) and Saba TV, will be attended by more than 100 students, civil society activists, development practitioners and government counterparts. It will showcase creative development projects and feature a panel discussion with development experts on how the SDGs relate to Afghanistan.

    Sep 27, 2015 — On September 25, world leaders from 193 nations including Afghanistan endorsed an ambitious agenda for global change called the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs represent a fifteen-year agenda (2015-2030) to guide the international community in our shared efforts to achieve three objectives: end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice, and protect our planet. At the UN General Assembly, Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah, on behalf of the Government of Afghanistan, committed to pursuing these goals together with Afghanistan’s development partners.

But this dream fell apart when she was 18 and contracted TB from a classmate in her hometown, Pulekhumri, a city in northeastern Afghanistan.
