The United Nations in Afghanistan organized a painting competition in Kabul for artists from all over the country. About fifty-seven artists participated.

This festival marked International Women’s Day, and women’s rights and activism in Afghanistan. The occasion also gave artists the opportunity to express the progress Afghan women have made.

A jury team including the First Lady, Rola Ghani; Roya Dost, singer; Toby Lanzer, DSRSG; Shila Waziri and Professor Enayatullah from Kabul University reviewed all the works, shortlisted top ten,  and chose the three best paintings.

The first position and cash prize went to Ali Reza Rahimi, second prize to Mina Naibkhil and third to Sayed Mahdi Zahak.
