Kabul: The Ministry of Women’s Affairs with assistance from United Nations Development Program’s Gender Equality Project started a training program today for 35 members of Kabul University Faculty, representing almost all the departments of Kabul University including Law and Diplomacy, Language Literature, Journalism, Agriculture, Computer Science, Engineering, Fine Arts, Islamic Studies, Geo Science, Pharmacy, Psychology, Physical Science and Social Science. The two-day workshop is designed to reinforce the capacity of the faculty members for a holistic understanding of gender issues.

New York: The UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon presented today a new report “A Million Voices: The World We Want”. The report summarizes the findings from public consultations and surveys that engaged more than 1.3 million people in all 193 UN Member States since August 2012 in an effort to identify priorities for the post-2015 development agenda that will succeed the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

They are all considered “street vendors” and are a part of the informal economy. These are people who earn their living by buying, selling and trading goods and services without involvement and support from the government.

The Embassy of the Netherlands and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Afghanistan have signed a cost sharing agreement (CSA) to enhance policy development and increase access to justice services across Afghanistan. The US$ 2.49 million cost-sharing agreement covers UNDP activities until December 2015, carried out under the Justice and Human Rights in Afghanistan (JHRA) Project.

Spain has provided Euro 22 million for Development of Rural Areas in Badghis Province in Afghanistan under the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)-supported National Area Based Development Programme (NABDP). In a move that links a majority of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces to the framework of strategic development planning, the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) has rolled out a three-day training workshop that will further consolidate the way forward for a harmonized, single planning system for the Government of Afghanistan. The initiative, supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will help IDLG in rolling out Provincial Strategic Plans (PSPs) in ten provinces during 2013.
